Brent C. Robitaille is a Canadian music educator, composer, author, and independent publisher. Teaching, Research, and Composition
Brent’s background combines formal music study with decades of hands-on teaching. He studied music at York University and also attended the Royal Conservatory of Music, Humber College, and McGill University. His work includes composition, arranging, guitar, piano, violin, theory, private lessons, group teaching, recording, and music publishing.
As a researcher, Brent co-authored a peer-reviewed study on emotional expression in music composition, published in Empirical Studies of the Arts. That research continues to connect with his practical teaching philosophy: music is not only technique and notation, but communication, structure, feeling, and intention.
As a composer and arranger, Brent has written for solo instruments, ensembles, recordings, television, film, commercials, and educational publications. As a teacher, his focus is helping students turn musical information into usable skill.

A Lifelong Connection to Music
I was seven the first time I touched a real guitar. My father told me he had bought me a present, and when I walked into my room and saw the small acoustic guitar, I ran my fingers across the strings. It felt like an entire orchestra had opened up in front of me.
